I am Miguel Jerónimo, better know as 'Cutbacks'! I’ve always been hands-on. I started in the world of film and television as a lighting assistant, working on movies, commercials, and TV shows—always behind the scenes, playing with light and shadows. But photography gradually took a bigger place in my life until, one day, I decided to leave it all behind and trade the film sets for the deep blue ocean.

I moved to the island of Flores and opened a diving center. That’s where I discovered my second passion: underwater videography. Between dives and filming, I realized that I loved telling stories beneath the water just as much as I enjoyed playing with light on land.

I never followed the traditional path. I’m self-taught, learning everything through hands-on experience—editing, color grading, sound design—and every project has been a new challenge to refine these skills. Always experimenting, always improving.

Work has never scared me. I’ve done a bit of everything, and that’s what keeps me moving forward. In the midst of it all, I still manage to be a husband and father of four—two girls and two boys! At the end of the day, what truly matters to me is creating images that tell stories, whether on land or deep underwater.
